Mid-Year Book Freak Out – 2019

mid year book freak out

Hey guys!

We’ve reached that mid-year point where we all start to stress about our reading challenge and the amount of unread books on our shelves!

This tag/post is all about figuring out what books you REALLY want to get around to this year and sharing some loves and loathes.

1: The best book that you’ve read so far in 2019?

There have only been a handful of absolute loves so far this year and We Set The Dark On Fire probably just tops it.

2: Best sequel that you’ve read so far in 2019?

I haven’t read any sequels yet, but I’m currently reading part two of the Sapphire Smyth serialized series by R.J Furness – loving it, one word MERMAIDS!

3: New release that you haven’t read yet but want to?

I’m not usually a lover of Sci-fi but Emily Eternal really intrigued me, so I said yes to review a copy. Definitely want to get to it soon!

4: Most anticipated release for the next half of 2019?

Is this a surprise? I think not. You should know that I fell head over heels in love with Renegades in 2017 and I’ve been totally obsessed since. I am way too eager for the final book and I honestly need it NOW!!

5: Biggest disappointment in 2019?

The majority of books I’ve read this year have been a solid 4-5 stars or maybe a still enjoyable 3, but this book was poop. I was supposed to review it for a blog tour and it sounded promising, but the execution was just bad.

6: Biggest surprise in 2019?

I knew the Sapphire Smyth series would be good. R.J had been talking with me about it for months and I was super excited for it, but what I did not expect was to be blown away! And Rick please don’t take that the wrong way – It was just so immersive and dark and totally surprised me. If you haven’t given this series a go yet, I highly recommend it!

7: Favourite new author (debut or new to you)?

I had never heard of Shelley before I read The Antidote and now I need to track down her other books! This was a five star read for me and also Shelley is super lovely!

8: Newest fictional crush?

Deven from Poison’s Kiss. He’s just super sweet and lovely! Also this book is underrated AF!!

9: Newest favourite character?

Cata from Dreamfall. She is just as terrified as everyone else in the book, but she is super strong and wise and keeps everyone together. I’m waiting for the sequel Neverwake to release in paperback in August!

10: A book that made you cry?

I’ve shed no tears yet this year!

11: A book that made you happy?

Happy Messy Scary Love is such a heart warming read and just super cute in general. If you enjoy your contemporary’s I highly recommend it!

12: The most beautiful book you’ve bought or received in 2019?

Stain featured in my first Book Hooked Box and it is the most stunning book inside and out. Besides the fact that it’s purple, it also had a gorgeous pearlescent gleam on the finished copy. Definitely magical!

13: What books do you need to read by the end of 2019?

All of these are sat on my bookshelf and some have been there for quite a while! I would love to get through these this year, but we’ll see.

It feels good giving myself some sort of goal by the end of the year! Although I’m not very good at sticking to them lol.

I tag anyone who wants to take part!

Until next time NEW
